Editorial policy and corrections
Last updated: 23 October 2026
FuelPriceAtlas is independent. Our job is to help drivers understand what fuel costs and why. This page explains how we produce and correct our content.
What we publish
- Live prices and rankings – generated from official open data (see Methodology).
- Reports and price-move news – generated automatically from our daily data using fixed rules.
- Editorial news – short items on fuel prices, taxes and rules. We use at least two independent sources, write our own text and link the sources at the end of every item.
- Guides – explainers, calculators and tips. Figures that change (taxes, rates, averages) carry a date and link to the official source.
Fact-checking
Numbers that come from our data are produced by our systems. Numbers and claims from outside sources (tax rates, rules, record prices) are checked against official publications or reputable news organisations and cited. Where sources disagree, or a decision is still pending, we say so rather than guess.
Use of automation
Some content, such as price reports, is generated automatically from our data. Guides and news are checked against the cited sources before they are published. We do not publish text that has not been checked for factual accuracy, and we do not publish invented quotes, invented statistics or fake reviews.
Independence and advertising
We may show advertising (see the privacy policy). Advertisers do not influence our prices, rankings or articles, and we do not accept payment for placing a station or brand higher in a ranking. If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labelled.
Corrections
If you find an error, tell us with the page address and what is wrong. We correct confirmed errors promptly; for significant corrections to a news item or guide we add a note saying what was changed and when.
