Tolls in Croatia 2026: how motorway tolls work
Croatia has no vignette: motorways (autoceste) charge a distance-based toll, paid by card or cash at toll booths or with an ENC electronic tag.
What you need to know
- Typical tolls for a car (category I) from Zagreb: about €26 to Split, about €18 to Zadar and about €10 to Rijeka. The Istrian Y and the A2 towards Slovenia cost less. Prices are in euros.
- Take a ticket at the entrance and pay at the exit. ENC lanes are faster, and the SmartENC app links your number plate to a bank card. The A11 Zagreb–Sisak motorway is toll-free, as are the Krk and Pelješac bridges.
- A new free-flow system without toll booths is being introduced in stages – check hac.hr for the latest rules before you travel.
- Fuel on the motorway is usually dearer than in towns; the cheapest stations are often a few kilometres off the motorway.
